The opening exhibition featured William Eggleston’s photographs and Desaix Anderson’s paintings. Eggleston exhibits primarily recent work. Andreson presents a retrospective of his Asian-influenced work, such as his Mountains in Flight series; philosophical abstractions, such as The Role of Memory, Ode to Rimbaud, and Touching the Sun; and recent works featuring scenes of Sumner itself.
The Center's founders hosted a reception October 1, 2011, at the Cassidy Bayou Gallery, welcoming visitors to the gallery from New York to California to Japan as well as from the Mississippi Delta and all over the Mid-South. Delta Magazine covered the inaugural exhibition.
